#1 - IT'S AMERICA

SOLO:  Christina BeasleyChristina is a graduate of Southeast Guilford High School, and is currently a rising sophomore at UNC Chapel Hill.

America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Drivin' down the street today,
I saw a sign for lemonade;
They were the cutest kids
I'd ever seen in this front yard.

As they handed me my glass,
Smilin', thinkin' to myself,
"Man, what a picture perfect
postcard this would make
of America!"

It's a fun hay ride, it's a water slide
It's a drive in a Chevrolet.
It's a man on the moon and fireflies in June
And kids sellin' lemonade.

It's cities and farms, it's open arms;
One nation under God…
It's America!

Later on, when I got home,
I flipped the TV on;
I saw a little town that some big twister tore apart.
And people came from miles around
Just to help their neighbors out.
And I was thinkin' to myself,"
I'm so glad that I live
in America!"

It's a baseball game, it's the hall of fame
It's a clown in a rodeo.
It's a high school prom, It's a country song.
It's a trip to a Broadway show.

It's cities and farms, it's open arms;
One nation under God.
It's America!

Now we don't always get it all right;
There's no place else I'd rather build my life.

'Cause it's a kid with a chance,
it's a rock and roll band.
It's a farmer cutting hay.
It's big flag flyin' in a summer wind
over a fallen hero's grave.

It's a church that prays, It's a choir in praise
It's a welcome home parade
It's a clear blue sky and mom's apple pie
And kids selling lemonade,

It's cities and farms, it's open arms,
One nation under God.
It's America! It's America!
America! America!

#2 "SING THE SONGS OF AMERICA"

Solo:  Rick Striefert is a transportation specialist in Guilford County, and has been singing since he was a teenager!

YANKEE DOODLE DANDY
I'm a Yankee Doodle dandy
A Yankee Doodle, do or die;
A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam,
Born on the Fourth of July.

I've got a Yankee Doodle sweetheart,
She's my Yankee Doodle joy.
Yankee Doodle came to London just to ride the ponies;
I am the Yankee Doodle Boy.

I've got a Yankee Doodle sweetheart,
She's my Yankee Doodle joy.
Yankee Doodle came to London just to ride the ponies;
I am the Yankee Doodle,
I am the Yankee Doodle,
I am the Yankee Doodle Boy!

"OVER THERE"
Johnny, get your gun, get your gun, get your gun.
Take it on the run, on the run, on the run.
Hoist the flag and let her fly
Like true heroes, do or die.

Pack your little kit, show your grit, do your bit;
Soldiers to the ranks from the towns and the tanks.
Make your mother proud of you
And to liberty be true

Over there, over there.
Send the word, send the word over there
That the Yanks are coming, the Yanks are coming.
The drums rum-tumming everywhere.

So prepare, say a pray'r,
Send the word, send the word to beware.
We'll be over, we're coming over,
And we won't come back till it's over over there!
And we won't come back till it's over over there!

"GRAND OLD FLAG"
You're a grand old flag,
you're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of the land I love,
The home of free and the brave.

Ev'ry heart beats true under red, white and blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
But should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

There's a feeling comes astealing,
and it sets my brain areeling
When I listen to the music of a military band.

Any tune like "Yankee Doodle"
simply sets me off my noodle!
It's that patriotic something
that no one can understand.

Red, White, and Blue, I am for you!
Honest, you're a grand old flag!

You're a grand old flag,
you're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of the land I love,
The home of free and the brave.

Ev'ry heart beats true under red, white and blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
But should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
Keep your eye on the grand old flag!

As I went down in the river to pray
Studyin' about that good ole way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord show me the way

Oh sisters, let's go down
Let's go down come on down
Oh sisters
let's go down
Down in the river to pray

Oh sisters, let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
Oh sisters, let's go down
Down to the river to pray

Down to the river, down to the river
Down to the river to pray.

Down to the river, down to the river
Down to the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studyin' about that good ole way

And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord show me the way

Oh brothers, let's go down;
Let's go down, come on down
Oh brothers, let's go down -
Down to the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studyin' about that good ole way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord show me the way

Oh fathers, let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
Oh fathers, let's go down
Down to the river to pray

Oh mothers, let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
Oh mothers, let's go down
Down to the river to pray

Oh sinners, let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
Oh sinners, let's go down
Down to the river to pray

Oh sinners, let's go down.

Oh, come on down just as you are.
Come on down -
D
own to the river to pray.

#5 – STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER
(With Armed Forces Recognition)

COLOR GUARDS compliments of the Veteran's Committee of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church.  Gary T. Davis heads up the committee.

Hooray for the Red, White and Blue
May it wave as our standard forever,
The gem of the land and the sea,
The banner of the right,
Let tyrants remember the day
When our Fathers with mighty endeavor
Proclaimed as they marched to the fray
That by their might and by their right
It waves forever.

ARMY
[
Over hill, over dale, we will hit the dusty trail
As those caissons go rolling along
. . .
]

And where e'er you go
You will always know
That those caissons go rolling along!

AIR FORCE
[Off we go into the wild blue yonder
flying high into the sky . . .
]

We live in fame or go down in flame,
For nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!

COAST GUARD
[Semper Paratus is our guide,
Our pledge, our motto true . . .
]

We're always ready,
"Do or die!"
Aye Coast Guard, we fight for you!

NAVY
[Anchors aweigh my boys, Anchors aweigh . . . ]

Until we meet once more,
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home!

MARINES
[From the halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli . . .
]

We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marines!

[MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR M.I.A. ]

SING!
Hooray for the Red, White and Blue
May it wave as our standard forever,
The gem of the land and the sea,
The banner of the right,

Let tyrants remember the day
When our Fathers with mighty endeavor
Proclaimed as they marched to the fray
That by their might and by their right
It waves forever.

The Red, White and Blue,
It waves forever!
Forever!

#6 GOD IS NIGH (TAPS)

Day is done, gone the sun
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky.
All is well, safely rest; God is nigh.

Fading light dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night.

May they find peace from the battle,
May they find rest in his care.
For the price they paid, the life they gave,
Let us lift up this pray'r.

Thanks and praise for their days,
'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, 'neath the sky.
All is well, safely rest; God is nigh.

May we draw strength from their courage
May we still sing freedom's song.
May their noble fight turn back the night
As their mem'ry lives on…and on.

Now the light fades from sight,
And the stars gleaming rays softly send.
To thy hands, these brave souls,
Lord commend.

Glory, glory hallelujah!
God is nigh.
God is nigh.

#7 "BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC"

SOLO:  Robin Self is a native of Greensboro, and has been involved in musical theater, choral direction and solo and ensemble singing for over 25 years.  She currently resides with her husband Bernie in Pleasant Garden.

Mine eyes have seen the glory
Of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage
Where the grapes of wrath are stored
He hath loosed the fateful lightning
Of His terrible swift sword
His truth is marching on

Glory glory hallelujah
Glory glory hallelujah
Glory glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on

He has sounded forth the trumpet
That shall never call retreat
He is sifting out the hearts of men
Before His judgment seat
O be swift my soul to answer Him
Be jubilant my feet
Our God is marching on

Glory glory hallelujah
Glory glory hallelujah
Glory glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on

In the beauty of the lilies
Christ was born across the sea
With a glory in His bosom
That transfigures you and me
As He died to make men holy
Let us live to make men free
While God is marching on

Glory glory hallelujah
Glory glory hallelujah
Glory glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on

Glory glory hallelujah
Glory glory hallelujah
Glory glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on
!

#8 "GOD BLESS AMERICA"

God bless America
Land that I love
Stand beside her
And guide her
Through the night
With the light from above

From the mountains
To the prairies
To the oceans
White with foam

God bless America
My home sweet home

God bless America
My home sweet home

#9 "STAR SPANGLED BANNER WITH IT'S AMERICA

O say, can you see
by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed
at the twilight's last gleaming,

Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched,
were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare,
the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night
that our flag was still there!

O say, does that star spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free
and the home of the brave?!

It's a football game, it's the Nascar fame.
It's a hot dog on the grill.
It's a swimming hole, it's a fishing pole

It's a roller coaster thrill
It's cities and farms, it's open arms;
one nation under God.
It's America!

Now we don't always get it right;
There's no place else I'd rather build my life.

It's a front porch swing, It's a high school ring,
It's a picnic in the park
It's a helping hand, it's a marching band
And fireworks after dark.

It's cities and farms, it's open arms,
One nation under God.
It's America!
America! America!
